Volunteering in Cambodia

Phirum joined Projects Abroad in 2017 as a Project Coordinator and became Country Manager in 2022. He studied International Relations at the University of Cambodia. Keen to support positive change in Cambodia, he is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Development Studies with a focus on researching sustainable and responsible voluntourism.

He has worked with multiple volunteering companies and charities in the past, with years of practical experience. He uses his positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed. Phirum likes to listen to music and play soccer and volleyball.

Sambath joined Projects Abroad in 2022. He is currently pursuing his MBA in Education. While growing up, he saw a real urban-rural divide in access to education. He volunteered with an education project and spent over 5 years based in rural provinces to support development programmes.

He continued his passion by being involved with various educational organizations at local and international levels. Afterwards, he was involved in education policy and research where he drew ideas on what should be done better for education in Cambodia. Motivated and inspired, Sambath is determined to make major changes in education services, particularly for students in rural areas.

Chanreaksmey joined Projects Abroad in 2022 as a Public Health Coordinator. She has a bachelor’s degree in Midwifery from the University of Health Science in Phnom Penh.

She pursued a career in medicine after seeing so many health challenges in the daily lives of her neighbors. She has over 8 years of experience working for international hospitals and international volunteer organizations. In her free time, Reaksmey likes to listen to music, read books, and spend time with family and friends.

Sela joined Projects Abroad in 2017 as a Medical Coordinator. He graduated as a doctor in 2015 from the International University of Medicine in Phnom Penh and worked for 2 years in one of the largest government hospitals in Cambodia.

Sela is always training and gaining new skills. In 2020 he qualified as a pediatrician. He is a kind and compassionate individual, with a genuine desire to help others and listen to their concerns. In his free time, Sela likes studying new diseases, reading, exploring new places to sharpen his communication skills, and spending time with his family and friends.
