Volunteer in Romania with Projects Abroad and support a community in need, while living and working in Transylvania. You’ll live with a local host family and gain firsthand insight into the culture, including delicious home-cooked food.
Support early childhood development at local childcare centers, gain practical teaching experience by helping school students with English, or complete a veterinary medicine internship to kickstart your career.
When you’re not working, explore Romania and experience life in Transylvania. Visit grand palaces in Brasov, or follow a trail of ancient myths and stories by visiting Dracula’s Castle. Projects Abroad staff will be there to provide 24/7 support if you need it.

Where we are based in Romania
Brasov
Our Romania volunteer opportunities are situated in Brasov. This is also where our Romania offices are.
Brasov is a historic town located in central Romania. It’s surrounded by lush greenery and the rolling hills and peaks of the Carpathian Mountains. You’ll see spectacular gothic and medieval architecture and historical sites. Brasov is also located near a ski resort and several castles.
Volunteering in Romania presents a rare opportunity to live with a local host family. You’ll get to learn about traditions and stories, share your own. We encourage you to try the delicious traditional food cooked by your hosts. You can try dishes like ‘sarmale’ (meat, rice, and herbs wrapped in cabbage) and plăcinte cu brânză dulce (fried dough filled with sweet cheese and sprinkled with powdered sugar).
